Convention FAQ
Updated March 16, 2020
Is the Convention still happening?

Yes it is; however we are having to postpone it to a later date in 2020. While it was our hope to be able to bring our community together at this signature event, recent changes have resulted in us having to postpone the convention - please refer to the Official Statement from the Board Regarding Convention for more info.  ENGAGE 2020 was on course to be one of our best conventions ever – we are only delaying the date that the program will occur, we are not cancelling it.  Our convention embodies the values of collaboration and community - bringing our members together to solve shared challenges is at the heart of why IASB was formed.  The current environment only reinforces that the connections between our members, the relevant educational content and dedication to professionalism are absolutely instrumental in making sure that our community thrives after the coronavirus situation subsides.

What about my Hotel Reservation?

If you booked your room at the hotel through our booking link that was provided after registering for the convention (or directly with IASB Staff), your reservation is being cancelled automatically this week without penalty.  If you booked through the Marriott website or main reservation line, used points or a third-party, please consult your confirmation on available options.

How is IASB addressing the Coronavirus Issue?

IASB, as a Member of the Events Industry Council (EIC) has been fully informed about this emerging and dynamic issue.  In addition to ensuring Members have access to factual, timely information and official guidance through the robust portal developed by the EIC for the meetings and events industry (available here), we are:

  • Reviewing and updating our risk-mitigation plan relative to this new illness, including more robust messaging before and during convention.
  • Adopting measures to minimize the potential impact and spread of illness on-site at the event with precautions recommended by health officials.  Sanitizing/Cleaning products will be readily available to attendees and we strongly urge attendees and our invited guest speakers to implement appropriate personal guidelines and protocols, such as proper hand-washing, cough covering and other proven techniques as suggested by the World Health Organization and other health authorities such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) before and during the convention (Learn More).
Who can attend the Convention?

Individuals who are owners or employees of current Member Companies and Entities are eligible to register and attend.  Individuals who are owners or employees of companies that are not a current member but would otherwise be eligible for membership (view qualifications here) may apply to attend convention one (1) time as a Non-Member - please see the registration form for the deadline to apply and other details.  Speakers that have been invited to speak at the convention by IASB as well as Approved Partners are also able to attend as outlined in their credentialing documents.  All Guests of Registered Attendees are required to also be pre-registered for the program.  The event is closed to all others including the public and the media.

What are the Cancellation Policies in effect for this Event?

Due to the postponement, we are asking attendees to maintain their registration status until a new date for the convention has been determined.  Once the new date is announced, we will publish a new registration deadline date that is approximately 3 weeks in advance of the convention (which is our current policy).  If the new Convention date is not conducive to attending, Attendees may notify IASB via email by the new deadline that they wish to cancel and IASB will refund or apply all monies paid as per our policy below which remains in effect.

Policy: Cancellations and Substitutions* are accepted at any time.  Cancellations in writing (email is acceptable) that are received by the registration deadline will be entitled to a full refund of monies paid.  After this date, cancellations that are accompanied by documentation showing restrictions on travel, medical/health reasons and similar situations beyond attendee's control will be handled on a case-by-case basis.    Refundable registration funds may be applied to a future event, or future dues or refunded upon request.

*Substitutions of individuals are permitted at any time provided the individual substituting is employed by the same company.

Who Should We Contact if we have questions about this event?
