Evolve: Taking the Struggle Out of Making Strides

Registration is complimentary for this activity; however, pre-registration is required.

How sensible is it to rocket your business towards its next evolutionary stage, with outdated thinking powering the leap forward? Meticulous planning, our best intentions and relentless work are simply no match for negative motivations and habits we aren’t even aware of. And so, unwillingly and unknowingly, we are both the explicit enablers and implicit inhibitors of our company’s and branches’ evolution. Time to take the struggle out of making strides and feed a far more productive way of thinking and acting into our ambitions.  Building on last year’s highly praised CONNECT masterclass, this entertaining and interactive session will empower the enabler and sideline the inhibitor in you(r business). Because on a good day, you get things done. But on a great one, you make things happen.  Participants will experience first-hand:

  • how to engage in constructive and productive dialogue in a matter of minutes,
  • how to harvest stakeholders’ thinking power and how to convert resisters into champions,
  • how to identify and eliminate productivity and energy leaks from the equation, while laying a tangible foundation of their business’s next step.

Presented by: Karl Raats

How do you get hidden potential to surface and materialize into a flourishing individual, team or organization? Little did Karl Raats know, when he declared himself a living experiment in creative thinking back in 2009, he had embarked on a journey to discover just that. Karl - a former journalist, business developer and marketeer - now operates at the intersection of professional creativity and positive psychology. Be it as a Certified De Bono trainer, Buzan Licensed Instructor, post-grad in Creativity, Innovation and Change, creative facilitator or professional speaker with worldwide mileage, his hands-on and tongue-in-cheek approach is guaranteed to energise, enlighten and empower you.  He was recently voted runner-up “Speaker of the year 2014” in The Netherlands…he’s not from nor does he even live there...

The New Normal: The Evolving Nature of Leadership  Preparedness in the 21st  Century

In this rousing speech, Gen.Honoré shares leadership lessons as well as the benefits of developing a culture of preparedness. The "Category V General" discusses the essential qualities that 21st century leaders need, including "decision superiority," the ability to "see first, understand first, and act first." On preparedness, Gen. Honoré believes waiting until disaster hits and then responding is dealing with problems on the "right side" of disaster, and that we should be dealing with the "left side" of disaster -- before it strikes. Bold and insightful, Honore's strategies for making the world a better place to live are sure to motivate audiences to see local, national, and international leadership issues in a new light.

Presented by: Lt. General Russel Honoré (Ret.)

If anyone knows how to lead and execute a mission, it's Lt. General Russell Honoré, USA (Ret.), who arrived in a Hurricane Katrina-battered New Orleans in 2005 and helped save a city by taking swift charge of military relief efforts.  Drawing on his 37 years of military experience, Gen. Honoré brings his bold, no-nonsense leadership approach to businesses and organizations to help better prepare them for the challenges of the future.  He speaks with authority about the constantly evolving nature of the "New Normal," an era where businesses, policymakers, and the citizenry must lead the way in creating a "Culture of Preparedness" that is equipped to safeguard both our economy and natural resources.

In an industry where tradition is challenged with business models, technology, outside disruptions, as well as the ever-growing global market, understanding differences and similarities is now more important than ever for our members to develop better partnerships and a stronger industry. Join us for a 2-part session of the membership, by the membership, and for the membership.  We will dive into how our industry and association is evolving. Topics to be included are: defining current business models, buyer climate, global markets, ethics and associations that impact our industry (almost sounds like a game show). In addition, we will include current suggested topics/questions from our membership!
