Peter Sheahan

 

Peter Sheahan is known internationally for his innovative business thinking and thought leadership. With staff in more than 23 cities across 7 countries, he knows firsthand the challenges of growing a business in these rapidly-changing times. Peter has advised leaders from companies as diverse as Apple, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Hyundai, IBM, Pfizer, Wells Fargo, and Cardinal Health. He is the author of 7 books, including Flip, Generation Y, Making it Happen, and most recently-released, Matter: Move Beyond the Competition, Create More Value, and Become the Obvious Choice. Peter has delivered more than 2,500 presentations to over 500,000 people in 20 different countries. He has been named one of the 25 most influential speakers in the world by the National Speakers Association and is the youngest person ever to be inducted into their industry Hall of Fame.  

 

Julie Williamson, PhD

Julie Williamson, Ph.D. has worked around the world with some of the largest companies, helping them set and execute on strategy and transformation. At the same time, she has worked with small, local organizations (for profit, non-profit, and government) to drive success as they seek to grow their revenue and their impact their communities. 

Julie is an educator and a professional, teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses on organizational strategy, behavior, and change, and helping students connect the theoretical concepts to real-world applications. Her work with knowledge management and leadership development has been put to the test with Fortune 100 companies and stands well outside of the classroom.  She is a leading voice in how organizations build growth-enabled cultures with a focus on generative leaders and generative organizations. She is the co-author of Matter.

She has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, NPR, and has been featured in TIME Magazine, The Huffington Post, Fast Company Magazine and NJ Biz and is the author of Fearless Leadership: High-Performance Lessons from the Flight.

Xavier Sala-i-Martin

Professor Sala-i-Martin is recognized as the leading expert on competitiveness and innovation. Since 2003 he has led the Global Competitiveness Report, which annually measures and ranks the competitiveness of all the countries in the world and recommends strategies to their decision makers. Professor Sala-i-Martin’s GCI is the most closely followed index on global economic and business competitiveness in the world, as it upgraded and modernized the former approaches to measuring competitiveness developed by Michael Porter and Jeffery Sachs. Governments and business leaders use it to evaluate and design current and future strategic competitiveness policies for their countries and corporations.

From 2003 to 2010 he was also a member of the Board and President of the Economic Commission of FC Barcelona and, therefore, contributed to the creation of what many experts have considered the best football team of all history. In 2009, FC Barcelona won all 6 championships in which it participated. No other team in history had ever achieved this impressive record. Hence, besides economic topics, based on his practitioner experience he also speaks about leadership and change.

 

Prior to joining to Columbia University, Sala-i-Martin taught at Yale and Harvard, and was a researcher at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London. He studied economics in Barcelona and holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University. He has received several awards including the Rey Juan Carlos Prize in Economics awarded by the Bank of Spain to the best economist in Spain and Latin America, and the Arrow Prize awarded to the best economist in the world by Health International Economics Organization. Recently, he was awarded the Zapping Prize to the most innovative TV program for his show "Economics in Colors". lives
