Pre-Conference Workshop
Finding Genius Through Rapid Problem Solving

Registration is complimentary for attendees for this activity; however, pre-registration is required.

Long time meeting industry veteran Tim Sanders knows about the business problems that bureau owners face. They range from marketing to sales to business development to operations and in each case genius is often required. The reality is that genius is not in the person, but instead, a product of collaboration. Too many businesses don’t have a team-solution culture in place, and that’s why they take so long to solve nagging business problems that hit the bottom line. Genius Is a Team Sport is a workshop that shatters three myths of innovation and then reveals how leaders can instill collaboration into their organizations at the cultural, physical and network level. It’s based on the extensive research Sanders has conducted to write his latest book (Dealstorming, 2/23/16).

Tim Sanders spent most of his career on the cutting edge of innovation and change. He was on the groundLove-is-the-killer-app-194x300 floor of the quality movement, the launch of the mobile phone industry and, most notably, the birth of the world wide web. Today, he’s gravitated to disruptive change for over 30 years.  He was an early stage member of Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner’s broadcast.com, which had the largest opening day IPO in history. After Yahoo acquired the company, Tim was tapped to lead their ValueLab, which enabled sales teams to close hundreds of millions of dollars of new business through rapid collaboration.  By 2001, he rose to the position of Chief Solutions Officer and later, the company’s Leadership Coach. In 2005, he founded Deeper Media, which provides consulting and training services for leading companies, trade associations and government agencies.

The 21st Century Speakers Bureau

Futurist Mike Walsh has worked with many of the world’s leading companies and brands, to answer a very specific question: how do you re-define your value in a digital age?  For anyone in the speaking industry, the rise of web and mobile platforms, a new generation of meeting planners, and shifting patterns in the way companies consume ideas, strategy and content, all add up to one inescapable fact: bureaus need to re-imagine themselves for the 21st century.  Synthesizing these findings into a fast paced, energetic keynote, Mike will explore the challenge of digital transformation for speakers bureaus and the opportunity for IASB delegates to re-imagine the way they do business from the perspective of a new, connected generation. In Mike’s view, innovating around the ‘client experience’ is the key to successful re-invention, and that requires an entirely new mindset, a culture of collaboration and a willingness to encourage dangerous ideas.

To Thrive, Effective Influence is Essential

What does scientific research tell us about how to maximize our influence?  And, how can we use this research ethically and effectively?  The answers lie in an understanding of the six universal principles of persuasion that move others toward yes.   In this memorable program, Dr. Robert Cialdini, author of the groundbreaking book, Influence, is your guide.  He will translate the science of influence into practical business applications via engaging accounts that will make the program immediately relevant to bureau professionals.  To more effectively influence speakers, clients, prospects and other bureau professionals, we will learn:

•         What we can do to create and deepen relationships more effectively.

•         How we can establish authority and trustworthiness more quickly.

•         And, which principles of persuasion are most likely to spur others from mere positivity to mobilized action.

Don’t miss the opportunity to learn these powerful tools.

Presented by: Robert Cialdini, PhD

New York Times bestselling author, Dr. Robert Cialdini has spent his entire career researching, publishing and speaking on the psychology of influence—What compels others to say “Yes” to a request by changing only one small aspect of that request.  Because of his scrupulous examination, attention to the ethical approach, and self-disclosing unforgettable stories, his books, including Influence, have sold over three-million copies in 30 different languages.  Robert Cialdini is respected worldwide as the seminal expert in the field. His love of the science is only matched by his engaging delivery.  Guy Kawasaki refers to Dr. Cialdini as “The Godfather of Influence.”
